# EnergyOn Sim

> EnergyOn Sim is solar savings-analysis and proposal software built for South Africa, by EnergyOn South Africa Pty Ltd. It simulates a customer's site through all 8,760 hours of a year — solar PV, battery storage, diesel generator and grid together — using real Eskom and municipal tariffs and load shedding schedules, then produces bankable financials (IRR, NPV, payback, LCOE) and white-label proposal PDFs. ## What it does

- Full-year simulation: 8,760 sequential hours per design; dispatch order PV → battery → grid → generator; AC- and DC-coupled batteries with backup reserve; diesel generators with fuel curves and service costs; results recalculate automatically on every save.
- South African tariffs: 291 real Eskom 2026/27 tariffs across 9 books (Ruraflex, Megaflex, Miniflex, Homeflex, Homepower, Businessrate, Landrate and Gen variants) ship in the library, every levy, kVA demand charge and fixed charge itemised. Municipal flat, time-of-use and block tariffs can be added. Separate before/after tariffs per design.
- Bill verification: the customer's current annual electricity bill is reconstructed line-for-line (TOU energy per period, each levy, each demand and fixed charge) so it can be reconciled against the real utility invoice before any savings are claimed.
- Load shedding: stages 1–8 generated from the NRS 048-9 rotation rules as 8,760-hour outage schedules; custom outage schedules supported; each design reports a Shield Score — the percentage of outage hours where demand is fully met.
- Diesel and existing systems: the customer's current setup (including an existing generator or PV) is the baseline design; proposals are credited for the diesel and grid spend they eliminate.
- Design comparison: unlimited designs per project compared side-by-side (system cost, year-1 savings, IRR, payback, NPV, cost of energy, grid reduction, self-consumption, Shield Score) with winners called out.
- Optimisation (Professional and Business plans): a black-box optimiser sweeps PV size, battery size, generator size and setpoints, grid capacity, tariff choice and dispatch strategy — 12 levers, 11 outcome targets (best IRR, fastest payback, best NPV, best savings, cheapest energy, earliest positive cash flow, lowest TCO, lowest cost of energy, lowest cost to customer, best resilience, off-grid ready). Hundreds of full-year evaluations complete in seconds; one click turns a result into a design.
- Financials: IRR, NPV, payback, ROI, System LCOE, LCOS (charged from actual simulated dispatch), blended LCOE across PV+battery+generator, effective cost of energy; 20-year escalated cash flows; 25-year LCOE horizon; PV/battery degradation, battery replacement, diesel and O&M escalation; tariff escalation aligned to the April Eskom anniversary.
- Financing: Cash, Rent-to-Own, Lease and PPA payment models side by side, with deposits, escalation and tax incentives such as South Africa's Section 12B.
- Reports: white-label, multi-page A4 proposal documents (savings, charts, load shedding cover, financing comparison, terms) generated from templates, editable in-app, exported to PDF. Tenant sets three brand colours; the whole document follows. Reports are frozen snapshots — re-simulating never changes an issued document.
- Engine validation: the dispatch engine matches the reference models of real implemented projects to within 0.01%.

## What it is not

- Not a panel-layout / CAD / shading tool. Array design happens in tools like HelioScope or PVsyst; EnergyOn Sim imports the hourly yield CSV and does the SA-specific savings, financing and proposal work those tools do not.
- Not tied to any hardware distributor — sizing is hardware-neutral.
